With the gorgeous sunny weather we’ve experienced lately, it’s certainly been warm enough to break out the summery light dresses. Well, if you’re anything like me, your legs are so pale they are transparent!

A layer of false tan gives my legs an instant face lift and delivers the confidence to go bare-legged. Below I have listed all of my tanning tips to ensure a flawless finish.

The trick to even fake tanning is all in the prep work. Exfoliate and do all hair removal at least a day beforehand to ensure even skin. Before you apply any tan, your skin should NOT have any moisturiser or even hair conditioner on it, as this can act as a barrier and give you streaky results. Rinse well in the shower and dry skin thoroughly.

A small amount of moisturiser can be applied to areas that are very dry if you like, as these areas will automatically go a shade darker such as elbows, knees and ankles.

Using a tanning mitt, apply a layer of Cocoa Brown 1Hour Tan using sweeping movements until you see an even colour coverage. Allow the tan to dry before putting on any clothes, try to wear something loose and dark until you rinse the tan off.

I always leave this tan on overnight, but you can rinse it earlier if you like a lighter coloured tan (it develops between 1 and 3 hours depending on your preferred shade).

Ensure you moisturise after you rinse the tan. This false tan uses alcohol as one of its main ingredients (to ensure it dries as quickly as possible for you to get dressed afterwards) but this can really dry out your skin, so you will need to add a light moisturiser afterwards.

Nivea Oil in Lotion Cherry Blossom with Jojoba Oil is the perfect moisturiser; it contains just the right amount of oil that will nourish your skin without breaking down the tan like a lot of heavy duty body butters do. It smells divine and absorbs quickly, leaving your skin feeling fresh but not greasy.

I like to finish off with a small amount of Cocoa Brown Rose Gold Goddess Oil down the centre of my legs to add a pop of shine; this is a contouring technique that instantly slims your legs and blurs the appearance of varicose veins as well as scars.

I use the Cocoa Brown T1 brush to apply, but you could use any makeup brush or even your hands to rub this dry oil on.Perfect!
